Decide and Push Your Way Through

TAKE A DECISION AND PUSH YOUR WAY THROUGH…                               by Lehlohonolo Maleka

“And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging. And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace; but he cried so much the more, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him; and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God” Scripture reference: Luke 18: 35 – 43

The scripture is about a blind man who used to sit by the side of the road and beg. People passing by used to stop and sympathise with him by giving him gifts such as money. As much as they sympathized with the man, this act did not change his situation. One day he heard that Jesus was coming; so he decided that he wants to get out of his situation and be able to see again. He pushed his way through by shouting the name of Jesus as he passed. People tried to stop him, but because he decided on what he wanted he pushed his way through. Ultimately he received his sight. Jesus performed the miracle, in this instance, but what is crucial is that the man made a decision and pushed his way through amidst all odds.

Everyone was born with a purpose, dreams, and talents. Often times we are constantly faced with trying circumstances or challenges that impede us from achieving them. Sometimes, if it happens that we achieve them, we are still faced with challenges that limit us from unleashing our true potential. What makes matters worse, in most cases, is that we get comforted by praises, sympathizing words and acts from people around us. Don’t misunderstand me on this matter. I am not saying praises and sympathy are wrong. All I am saying is that, sometimes, they can short-circuit your true potential and may not challenge you to be hungry for more.

Allow me to share with you the 5-key steps that you need to get out of your situation and make it through.

Many people put on make ups and appear lovely and beautiful. In most cases, their make ups only hide the spots and pimples on their face, but they never remove them. The best way would be to look for a solution that removes them permanently. This would help you appear lovely, beautiful and confident all the time.

You are faced with a problem or a challenge that perturbs you from achieving what you want in life. You may act as though everything is fine, but deep inside you know that it is not. Stop pretending everything is fine. Acknowledge that you have a challenge and also acknowledge the need for change. This will help you stop nursing your problems.

Once you have acknowledged your problem, decide what you want to change or see in your life. Don’t let your current circumstances, experiences and/or shortfalls limit what you want to achieve in life. Just take a decision of what you want to achieve or see.

One may argue that you have to be realistic when taking your decision. It depends on how you define “realistic”. Most people define “realistic” based on their limitations, experiences and/or current circumstances, and not according to God. They end up dreaming in the box instead of dreaming out of the box simply because they are trying to be realistic. If an idea crosses your mind, despite the fact that it has never existed before, it can be real.

I define a vision, in simple terms, as a goal that we want to achieve in a particular sphere of life. It is a statement that constantly reminds us about our existence and what we want to achieve in life, and sometimes how to achieve our goals.

It is through a vision that you can narrow your energies into one big specific goal. It helps you clarify your expectations. It helps you overcome your fears, negativity and self-doubt of achieving what you hope to achieve. It also challenges you to come out of your comfort zone to achieve what you want.

However, it is pertinent to note that in order for you to accomplish your vision you need to be disciplined.

Once you know what you want and have a vision on it, the next crucial thing is to identify the resources that will enable you to achieve that. I can define enablement as the ability to do or achieve something, either through knowledge, strengths, skills or adequate resources. In most cases, you may find that you need to other people, enablers, to help you accomplish your vision.

However, when choosing people who can help you, it is pertinent that you choose people who will support your vision and not bring their own vision along. Your vision and their vision will become “di-vision” and you cannot be effective in any way when you have division.

Many dreams, purposes and talents have vanished into thin air due to lack of sustainability. Sustainability is crucial in order for you to achieve what you want in life. Along the way of achieving your vision, you will come across tall mountains, wide rivers and all sorts of obstacles. It will not always be easy to stay focused on your vision, especially when the going gets tough, but sustainability will see you through.

I can define sustainability as the state of having encouragement to do something or complete a particular task, despite trying circumstances that perturb you from achieving your vision. In simple terms, it is the driving force behind an action.

Sustainability comes in different forms. It may come through motivation, inspiration, reward, prayer, other people, etc. Sometimes you need people who will encourage you to push through.

No matter the challenges you face in life. You need to acknowledge that you have a challenge and not only that, but you need to make a decision about that challenge. You need to come up with a vision, identify the resources that will enable you to achieve it and a force to sustain you through.
